Janet Finch-Saunders AM has received a petition from the Save The Conwy Campaign and Snowdonia Society, against the proposed hydroelectric scheme at the Conwy falls.
Janet said: “I went along to collect a petition with 6,311 signatures. Concerns were first raised with me by a number of businesses who largely felt that they had been overlooked in terms of consultation and dialogue.
“Non-compliance incidents with regard to hydroelectric licenses in Snowdonia National Park have more than doubled in the past 3 years, causing some scepticism.
“This is a beautiful, unique and unspoilt area with huge tourism appeal, and there are many local community groups, residents and business owners who want to ensure that their voices are heard and that all views will be taken into account.
“Renewable energy is very important, and such schemes have seen great success elsewhere, however it is essential that the views of all sides are fully taken into account.”
