Janet Finch-Saunders, Assembly Member for Aberconwy and Shadow Minister for Local Government and Communities, has today demanded a statement from the Minister for Education and Skills on the progress of the SEN trials currently being undertaken across seven regions in South Wales and only one in North Wales.
Mrs Finch-Saunders welcomed the government’s decision to change the way in which primary assessments of Special Educational Needs take place; a system that has remained unchanged for 30 years. She also commended the valiant work carried out by charities such as the Carers Trust and Snap Cymru, not just in Aberconwy but across Wales
The Conservative member for Aberconwy asked Mr Andrews to reassure parents and carers in Aberconwy that the disproportionate dispersion of the trials was not representative of the initiative as a whole.
"Trials are currently being carried out in seven areas across South Wales and just the one in North Wales"
The minister for Education and Skills welcomed remarks by Mrs Finch-Saunders, stating that the government was looking to learn "Universal Lessons" and not "Geographic lessons".
