In reaction to recent flooding, and temporary closure of the Conwy Valley Railway Line, Janet Finch-Saunders AM is pleased to have secured encouraging responses to the serious questions she posed to the Welsh Government over the long term future of this vitally important line.
Janet said:
“I am delighted that the Welsh Government have agreed with my stance that the Conwy Valley Railway line is important due to its role as a link between the mountains and sea of North Wales.
“Now that I have succeeded in gaining an acknowledgement of the line’s significance to the tourist industry, I do expect more to be done by Lord Ellis-Thomas, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Sport, to promote this tremendous track specifically.
“Steaming ahead, I am pleased that the problem of flooding is not being regarded as a deterrent to viability, but is being tackled by extra pressure being put on Network Rail Wales Route to work to deliver greater resilience of the line”.
