At the Royal Welsh and Eglwysbach Shows Janet Finch-Saunders AM called again on the Welsh Government to invest in and enhance our rural communities.
Janet said:
“It was fantastic being back at the Royal Welsh and Eglywsbach shows. At the latter, for example, local people of all ages entered competitions, highlighting the fact that our rural areas do have vibrant communities that deserve more support.
“Since being first elected in 2011 I have been championing rural communities in the Senedd, such as through calling for the protection, prioritisation, and strengthening of rural hospitals and surgeries, public services, and schools.
“Whilst my colleagues and I succeeded to have the 19 bus route reinstated, I am still holding the Welsh Government and Conwy County Borough Council to account on the closure of Ysgol Trefriw and Ysgol Tal-y-Bont.
“I have also been pushing the Welsh Government to ensure that Superfast Broadband is made available to 100% of premises in Wales. For example, I am pleased to announce that further to my representation the situation in Roman Bridge has been reviewed and plans are now in place to increase speeds via Fibre to the Premises technology, whilst the phone box has been saved in Cwm-Penmachno.
“I am standing up for rural communities, so it’s time that the Welsh Government took them seriously too”.
