Janet Finch-Saunders MS – the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy – has today (3 February 2021) encouraged residents to contribute to the consultation on moving the Llanrwst Library to the ground floor of the Glasdir Business and Conference Centre.

In asking for contributions, Janet said:

“The Llanrwst Library is a well-utilised and valued facility that remains an important pillar of this rural community, particularly in its provision of essential services such as free access to public computers.

“The Llanrwst Library is a true community hub, with a history of providing reading groups, story time for local infants and digital education classes. Even through the pandemic, and as part of Conwy Libraries, a Call & Collect Service has been maintained, ensuring the continuation of our literary pursuits.

“Given the increasing usage of the library, officials have long recognised that the current building is too small and would require significant investment. Following the unexpected closure of Glasdir Business and Conference Centre, they have now proposed plans to move to the Centre’s ground floor.

“It is hoped that such a move would enable the library to provide additional facilities and services. I would heartily encourage all local residents to take a look at the proposals on the CCBC website, and complete the questionnaire. This library belongs to us all, so it is essential that your views are heard.”

Notes for Editors:

  • Concept drawings of how the new library could look can be found on the service’s website.  A questionnaire for local constituents is available to complete online at: conwy.gov.uk/llanrwstlibrary
