Having recently written to Conwy County Borough Council (C.C.B.C.) to highlight numerous concerns pertaining to the traffic flow and general road safety along Queen’s Road in Craig-y-Don, the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, Janet Finch-Saunders has now received a positive response from the Local Authority.

In correspondence received by the Member, C.C.B.C. has confirmed that a speed assessment will be carried out on the road near the entrance to Queen’s Park. Additionally, it has been outlined that council officials are finalising the designs for a controlled crossing over Queen’s Road, near Balfour Road. Finally, Janet has been advised that measures, including the deployment of double yellow lines, will be utilised to address the issue of inconsiderate parking in proximity to the new traffic island.

Commenting on the news Janet said:

“I am absolutely delighted that C.C.B.C. has committed to taking positive action to address the ongoing road safety concerns that residents have in Craig-y-Don.

“As one of the founding members of the Friends of Queen’s Park, and having previously worked to help secure playground funding for this location, I am well aware of the popularity and importance of this green space within the community. Given this, I am pleased to see that steps will now be taken to improve pedestrian safety whilst crossing Queen’s Road.

“In further correspondence from the Local Authority I have also been made aware that, following my correspondence on the issue, repairs have been carried out to one of the Speed Monitoring signs on Queen’s Road, while specialist repairs to the other camera have been arranged.

“I do hope that this commitment is followed up with robust and positive action to address the concerns of residents. It is imperative that Queen’s Road is made safe for all road users.”

Ar ôl ysgrifennu’n ddiweddar at Gyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy (CBSC) i dynnu sylw at y pryderon niferus ynghylch llif traffig a diogelwch ffordd cyffredinol ar hyd Heol y Frenhines yng Nghraig-y-Don, mae Janet Finch-Saunders, Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, bellach wedi derbyn ymateb cadarnhaol gan yr Awdurdod Lleol.

Mewn gohebiaeth a dderbyniwyd gan yr Aelod, mae CBSC wedi cadarnhau y bydd asesiad cyflymder yn cael ei gynnal ar y ffordd ger y fynedfa i Barc y Frenhines. Hefyd, amlinellwyd bod swyddogion y cyngor wrthi’n terfynu’r cynlluniau ar gyfer croesfan wedi’i rheoli dros Heol y Frenhines, ger Heol Balfour. Ac yn olaf, clywodd Janet y bydd mesurau, gan gynnwys defnyddio llinellau melyn dwbl, yn cael eu defnyddio i fynd i’r afael â’r broblem o barcio anystyriol yn agos at yr ynys traffig newydd.

Gan roi sylwadau ar y newyddion, dywedodd Janet:

“Rwy’n hynod falch bod CBSC wedi ymrwymo i gymryd camau positif i fynd i’r afael â phryderon traffig parhaus sy’n wynebu preswylwyr yng Nghraig-y-Don.

“Fel un o aelodau sefydledig Cyfeillion Parc y Frenhines, ac ar ôl gweithio yn y gorffennol i helpu i sicrhau cyllid maes chwarae ar gyfer y lleoliad hwn, rwy’n gwbl ymwybodol o boblogrwydd a phwysigrwydd y llecyn gwyrdd hwn yn y gymuned. O ystyried hyn, rwy’n falch o weld y bydd camau yn cael eu cymryd i wella diogelwch cerddwyr wrth groesi Heol y Frenhines.

“Mewn gohebiaeth bellach gan yr Awdurdod Lleol rwyf hefyd wedi clywed, yn dilyn fy ngohebiaeth ar y mater, bod atgyweiriadau wedi’u gwneud ar un o’r arwyddion Monitro Cyflymder ar Heol y Frenhines, a bod atgyweiriadau arbenigol wedi’u trefnu ar gyfer y camera arall.

“Gobeithio y bydd yr ymrwymiad hwn yn cael ei atgyfnerthu gyda chamau cadarn a phositif i fynd i’r afael â phryderon preswylwyr. Mae’n hollbwysig sicrhau bod Heol y Frenhines yn ddiogel i bawb sy’n ei defnyddio.”
