Janet Finch-Saunders MS – the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy - has today (23 February) welcomed the news that additional works have commenced to rectify issues with the Glan Conwy crossing, with new measures enacted so parked cars remain clear of the visibility splay. The local road works are expected to span three weeks in total.
Welcoming the progress, Janet said:
“Following concerns raised about the safety of the zebra crossing in Glan Conwy, I was most pleased to make urgent representations to the Welsh Government which resulted in a new design proposal to ensure drivers were made aware of the crossing in good time.
“For around eight years I have been working with the community to secure a zebra crossing for Glan Conwy. We have protested, and I have written letters and asked numerous questions of Welsh Government Ministers. I welcome the fact that this journey now appears to be on the homeward straight.
“As these essential and additional works get underway around the Glan Conwy crossing, I would like to thank the Trunk Road Agent for their continued cooperation on this issue, which has resulted in swift and tangible solutions to benefit both road users and pedestrians.
“I deeply value the patience and unwavering support of Glan Conwy residents in my work petitioning for these essential local road improvements. I urge all local residents with any further concerns on related matters to email my office as a priority, so that swift action can be taken.”
