The Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy – Janet Finch-Saunders MS – has today (08 October) spoken of her joy at the news that Transport for Wales will reinstate Dolgarrog Station as a request stop from Saturday. The station is an unstaffed halt on the Conwy Valley Line from Llandudno Junction to Blaenau Ffestiniog.
Welcoming the news, Janet said:
“I am delighted that Transport for Wales has listened to the concerns of local residents and will reinstate Dolgarrog Station as a request stop from Saturday. This reinstatement follows the allocation of a class 150 train to the route.
“Given the recent reopening of the Conwy Valley line, this news will certainly work to reassure residents, who have been too often forced into using alternative transport since it was recognised that the class 153 train would not fit the new platform.
“This railway offers a pivotal service that connects some of Conwy’s most rural communities and so I have consistently pushed for further investment to secure its long-term future.
“We need to build on this positive development for Dolgarrog station, and look to maximize the potential the stop has to operate as a key hub for the community of Dolgarrog and its major tourist attractions."
