Local AM, Janet Finch-Saunders, is to call on the Welsh Government to prioritise local broadband ‘not-spots’ in their forthcoming superfast programme.
The successor project to the Superfast Cymru scheme is due to be announced later this year following the tender process, and Janet is seeking to ensure that those
Janet said:
“In Aberconwy, 4.5% of properties still remain unable to receive any form of fibre broadband, whilst a further 3.5% receive 24 megabits per second or less – often considerably less – with many receiving just 1 or 2 megs.
“This is an unacceptable position for any household – especially those trying to run a business from home, those with children who need to access the internet for homework, or farmers required to fill in vital BPS forms online.
“Obtaining the best possible broadband provision for everyone across Aberconwy is a key goal for me during the Fifth Assembly, and I await the announcement of the successor project keenly – in order to ensure that the Welsh Government seeks to prioritise the areas of Aberconwy which have lost out on this vital provision to date.”
