Janet Finch-Saunders AM has expressed her thanks and admiration for the many people who turned out for the Deganwy Beach Clean on Friday.
Clare Reed of the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) provided a briefing for volunteers, and guided the clean, with volunteers tracking the type of litter picked up as part of the ongoing monitoring work of the MCS through their Beachwatch project.
Representatives from Tesco and NFU Mutual were in attendance, with NFU Mutual kindly providing refreshments for volunteers.
Local Conwy County Borough Councillor, Sue Shotter, also joined the volunteering team.
Janet said:
“It really was wonderful to see so many members of the public turn out to volunteer and lend their time to this great cause.
“My sincere thanks to NFU Mutual and Tesco for coming along to give their support also!
“The blight of litter – especially plastics – on our beaches and in our seas is terrible, and can have a life-threatening impact on wildlife.
“When ingested, such litter can cause huge injury damage to our marine wildlife and birds.”
