PRESS RELEASE
Janet Finch-Saunders, Assembly Member for Aberconwy, has called on the Welsh Government to action in supporting our Armed Forces and veterans in Wales.
The AM said: “With some 220,000 members of the Armed Forces community living in Wales, it is vital that we recognise those that have served, and those that continue to serve in the name of our country and our freedoms.
“Many that leave the Armed Forces will go on to suffer mental health conditions or homelessness as a direct result of their service. I have today called on the Welsh Government to tackle this by funding dedicated support for residential accommodation, and speeding up the process for diagnosing and treating mental health conditions.
“The Welsh Conservatives have long called for the establishment of an Armed Forces Identity Card that would bestow benefits on our Armed Forces, and ensure they receive dedicated support in areas such as health and housing.
“Our fighting men and women are the pride of our Nation, and it is vital that we ensure that we create a Wales worthy of their service.”
