Janet Finch-Saunders AM has called on the Minister for Health and Social Services to tackle over-prescription of antibiotics in Wales. Speaking on this matter, Janet said:
"There have been concerns of late about the problems associated with over-prescribing antibiotics, which is leading to stronger, more virulent strains of diseases which are developing resistance to treatment."
"The Chief Medical Officer for England, Professor Dame Sally Davies has expressed concerns that within twenty years, routine surgery could become a life-threatening procedure due to heightened levels of infection."
"Antibiotics are one of the most important medical advances in my generation’s lifetime, and I don’t want to see our collective health suffer because of over-prescription"
