A Cross Party letter signed by 43 Assembly Members urges the UK Prime Minister to help make Wales and the UK a ‘global leader’ in renewable energy by backing plans for a £1.3 billion tidal lagoon in Swansea Bay.
Assembly Members united to strongly support the recommendations of the Hendry Review (Charles Hendry, former UK Energy Minister), and asked that the Lagoon be given approval as a ‘pathfinder’ project which will create opportunity for new ventures in leisure, tourism and associated maritime activities whilst also providing a level of private capital investment rarely seen in Wales.
Assembly Members are seeking to take a delegation to meet with relevant Ministers in Westminster to follow up on their letter and offer their joint support for a positive and speedy decision on the Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon.

'I was proud to sign this letter, and hope that we will not only see a tidal lagoon in Swansea but also here in North Wales'
