The Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy – Janet Finch-Saunders MS – has today (7 September) welcomed Conwy County Borough Council’s agreement to her request for a site meeting at Queen’s Road in Craig-y-Don, to discuss pedestrian safety.
Mrs Finch-Saunders wrote to the Local Authority last month with a request for a site meeting in light of locals’ long-standing concerns over speeding, and the terrible accident in which a young boy was knocked off his bike following a collision with a passing vehicle.
Commenting on the Queen’s Road safety situation Janet said:
“Queen’s Road is one of the main routes to our world famous promenade and brilliant local businesses.
“Given the strategic importance of the highway, that it runs right through the heart of our community, and has to be crossed to access key public facilities on both sides, I am not surprised that residents are concerned about pedestrian safety.
“With one boy having been knocked over, and constituents fearful when crossing the road, it is clear that action is needed to improve safety.
“I welcome the news that Conwy County Borough Council has agreed to undertake a site meeting with me, and look forward to discussing what appropriate actions can be taken”.
