Assembly Member for Aberconwy, Janet Finch-Saunders AM, visited Conwy Mussels on Conwy Quay.
The Member said:
“It is wonderful to see a local family-run business doing so well, especially promoting our fantastic local Conwy mussels, which have received PDO status.
“Small and medium-sized businesses are the backbone of our economy, and the Welsh Government must do all they can to support such businesses – from improving rate relief and access to finance, to cutting red tape and bureaucracy.”
Thomas and Trevor Jones, of Conwy Mussels, said:
“We were very happy with the visit. It was good to talk to Janet about what is going on.
“Business is very good, the mussels are extremely popular and an important part of the town. Were very happy with the local support of the council and our ministers.
“The only short term problem we see is the lack of seed mussels on the beds, which will reduce our stocks and sales as years go on if nothing is done.”
