Janet Finch-Saunders AM/AC, Member for Aberconwy, has welcomed the announcement that Venue Cymru will be converted into a temporary field hospital, providing an additional 350 beds to patients with coronavirus-related respiratory complaints. BCUHB says this temporary hospital will work alongside the existing capacity at Llandudno Hospital.
In her statement today (April 1), Mrs Finch-Saunders praises the ‘extraordinary coordination of Conwy Country Borough Council, Public Health Wales and Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board’ to ensure that the people of North Wales are properly cared for throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
On the announcement, Janet says:
"I warmly welcome the announcement that Venue Cymru is to be converted into a temporary hospital to support Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board at this difficult time.
"This multi-purpose venue, at the heart of Llandudno, offers sufficient space and infrastructure to allow it to be repurposed in line with national guidance.
"The provision of an additional 350 beds for patients is crucial to BCUHB’s COVID-19 response, as well as the health and well-being of Aberconwy residents.
"I would also like to praise the extraordinary coordination shown by Conwy Country Borough Council, Public Health Wales and Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, whose teamwork and fellowship has shown that our public servants grasp the urgency and importance of this matter.
"I continue to work hard to ensure that the people of North Wales have access to all the necessary care and support during this deeply challenging and quickly evolving period.
