Janet Finch-Saunders, Assembly Member for Aberconwy, is lending her support to MacMillan Cancer Support’s new campaign – ‘Cutting the Cost of Cancer’.

Janet said: "I am shocked to learn that less than one-third of over-65s with a cancer diagnosis actually receive financial support or advice. This is a particularly pertinent issue for Conwy which has the highest proportion of people over-65 in Wales.

"The increase costs faced by cancer sufferers as a result of travelling to appointments, increased energy bills from staying home more, buying new clothes as their weight may fluctuate can be staggering, and this is on top of potential lost income.

"I hope to see the Welsh Government working with organisations such as MacMillan to make real changes and reduce the unnecessary monetary pressures on those living with cancer."
