PRESS RELEASE
Welsh Assembly Member for Aberconwy Janet Finch-Saunders AM has joined the calls for improved scrutiny and accountability of the Finance Wales Investment Group.
Speaking to the First Minister Carwyn Jones during FMQ’s in the Senedd, earlier today, the member welcomed the news that the UK Government has now devolved business rates to Wales, saying that these levers would benefit our smaller and microbusinesses across Wales.
Janet said: “The recent Access to Finance Review compiled by Entrepreneur Professor Dylan Jones-Evans recommends that the Welsh Government reviews Finance Wales, actually describing it as “Not fit for purpose”. She further added “I echo the calls for the establishment of a Welsh Development Bank to allow further investment for our businesses at market rates, so vital to our economy and I endorse the calls for the board of directors from Finance Wales to attend a scrutiny committee of AM’s at the National Assembly For Wales.
