Janet Finch-Saunders AM, Shadow Minister for Local Government, last week attended the launch of the Welsh Conservatives’ Grassroots Revolution at Coleg Llandrillo Cymru, Rhos-on-Sea. Janet said:
"This is about freeing up local communities and empowering them to make real improvements in their areas. I would like to echo the sentiments of David Jones MP in saying that our Grassroots Revolution is about town hall transparency and local accountability.
"As David Jones MP has said, planning policy really is about communities. About community want and need – not about centralised diktat.
"This Grassroots Revolution is really about respect. It will give people across Wales a bigger say in areas that affect them, including schools, planning and the Welsh language.
"The words of my colleague Andrew RT Davies AM really showed the people of Wales that it is the Welsh Conservatives who are the party of the people, who are the party of localism, democracy and empowerment, and who – most importantly – are the party for communities!
"I truly feel that our Grassroots Revolution really captures the spirit of the people and communities of Wales and rewards them with respect and empowerment."
