A new vineyard in Conwy has won a clutch of awards with its very first vintage.

Gwenllian Conwy, a one-acre vineyard at Llangwstenin, collected three bronze awards at this year's Welsh Vineyards Association's competition.

The awards were for Gwenllian's Rose, Solaris dry white, and Rondo red, planted just four years ago.

A total of 42 wines from 9 vineyards were entered.

WVA Chairman Robb Merchant said: 'The interest in Welsh wines is growing as the quality improves. Presently Welsh vineyards produce around a 100,00 bottles a year and this is set to double by 2020.'
