Figures uncovered by Janet Finch-Saunders AM have revealed that over half of Glastir applications are sent back to the applicant due to errors.
Janet Finch-Saunders, Assembly Member for Aberconwy, who uncovered the data has raised concerns about the complex nature of the forms and called on the Deputy Agriculture Minister to act.
The enquiry was made after the AM received a number of complaints from farmers about the unnecessarily complicated form-filling.
Janet Finch-Saunders said, "It is surprising that the majority of applications for Glastir end up being sent back to the original applicant to be redrafted.
"Farmers are telling me the forms are overly complicated and simply not fit for purpose.
"We all expect a degree of paperwork and bureaucracy to deliver grants and support, but there is a balance to be struck.
"I would strongly urge the Deputy Minister to examine this unsustainable and grossly inefficient situation to end this pen pushers’ charter."
