Since January this year Janet Finch-Saunders has been striving to keep HSBC bank and ATM in Llanrwst. After the closure of the bank and withdrawal of the ATM the Member is “delighted to have received a positive response from HSBC”.
Janet said:
“The closure of the HSBC bank in Llanrwst on 23 June 2017 is something that I opposed, and has been extremely damaging to the elderly, families, and businesses of the Conwy Valley.
“The negative impact on farmers and other business people is apparent when considering that visits by business customers were 6% higher in Llanrwst than a typical HSBC branch!
“Given that the nearest branch is around a 30 mile round trip journey, I wrote to HSBC, and also the Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Infrastructure, asking for an explanation as to what the Welsh Government is doing to mitigate the expenses incurred by businesses as a result of bank closures.
“Bolstering this banking bombshell was the withdrawal of the ATM. It follows that I am delighted to have received a positive response from HSBC with their comments that they are working with a third party ATM provider to install a further 24 hour ATM in Llanrwst”.
