Assembly Member for Aberconwy, Janet Finch-Saunders, has led a tribute in the National Assembly for Wales to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who made history this week as the first Monarch of the United Kingdom to reach their Sapphire Jubilee – marking 65 years on the throne on February 6th 2017.
The Prime Minister has said, it is "a testament to her selfless devotion to the nation" that she has made clear she did not want official celebrations to mark this historic milestone.
Janet said:
“The Queen has served our country with dignity and grace – she is an inspiration to us all, and has undertaken her duties with exceptional wisdom, restraint and balance.
“As our longest reigning Monarch, she is the first to reach a Sapphire Jubilee, and remains loved all over the world by people of all ages, no more so than right here in the United Kingdom.
“I am proud to celebrate and give my thanks to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, for her remarkable service and dedication to the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth throughout her reign.”
