Janet Finch-Saunders AM has today written to the Chief Executive of Conwy County Borough Council, calling for the Authority to make money available for businesses affected by the recent flooding.
In 2014-15, businesses in Conwy contributed £27,724,000 in non-domestic rates to the public purse.
Whilst it is possible to apply for Hardship Relief through the local authority, the eligibility criteria is often exclusive, and the process can be over-bureaucratic and burdensome.
Janet said: “I am calling on Conwy County Borough Council to acknowledge the devastation and threat to small businesses in our rural communities, and to extend some immediate hardship relief to our hardworking and conscientious business owners in their hour of need.”
