The Welsh Government have decided to locate the new Welsh Revenue Authority (WRA) office at Treforest near Cardiff.
Janet said:
‘The Welsh Government had an amazing opportunity to help strengthen the economy of Aberconwy and North Wales by creating 40 new jobs through locating the Welsh Revenue Authority in Llandudno Junction’.
‘In deciding on the location, Mark Drakeford made it clear that it had to be in the same area of Wales as other organisations carrying out similar functions’.
‘Surprise, Surprise, Labour chose to give North Wales two jobs instead, and locate the authority in Treforest – 15 miles away from the Senedd’
‘This decision is unbelievably unfair as we have a Welsh Government building in Llandudno Junction which could host the authority, and which, importantly, is near to another major financial arm of the Welsh Government: Student Finance Wales’.
‘At the end of the day, what this comes down to is the Welsh Government and Carwyn Jones’ determination to keep exacerbating the North-South divide’.
‘The joke is this that the Authority does not need to be anywhere near Cardiff Bay as it is to be a digital first organisation focusing on working online, and with stakeholders across the country, so this is a true missed opportunity for the North’.
