Cllr Janet Finch-Saunders AM, Shadow Minister for Local Government today welcomed the holding of Welsh Labour Government’s Cabinet meeting in Llandudno Junction, but warned that they must do more to engage with North Wales.
Janet said: “It is great to see the Welsh Labour Government following in the footsteps of the Conservative-led coalition Government in Westminster by holding Cabinet meetings around the country.
“In my short time as an Assembly Member, I have really been pushing the Welsh Government to engage further with North Wales and to hold meetings there. Many people during my election campaign highlighted this issue to me and I am pleased that they now have the opportunity to engage properly with their Government.
Janet warned however that the Government must not become complacent. She said: “We must ensure that today’s meeting is not seen as a ‘token’ gesture. The Government must continually be looking at ways in which to engage fully and effectively with the people of North Wales.
“The appointment of my colleague Mark Isherwood AM as Shadow Minster for North Wales show the Welsh Conservatives’ commitment to this.”
