Following the decision of Conwy County Borough Council Cabinet today to propose to extend the Kingdom contract to the end of the financial year, with a view to exploring alternative options via a Task and Finish Group in the meantime, Janet Finch-Saunders, AM for Aberconwy, said:
“It was a lively and interesting debate, with a great deal of acknowledgement that the current enforcement regime under Kingdom Security does not fit well within a culture of fairness and a balanced approach.
“Given the fact that there are concerns about the lack of any enforcement, this decision seems a fair and reasonable approach going forward. It has to be said that the Leader of the Council, Cllr Gareth Jones OBE, has listened to the many voices of both elected members and members of the community who have raised a number of objections.
“It was refreshing to see that the Cabinet have considered some short term measures, should this not be an acceptable decision for Kingdom who may wish to see the contract now not renewed in August.
“I shall continue to monitor the outcomes of any decisions going forward, and would like to place on record my thanks to Cllr Gareth and his Cabinet for making what I feel was a very fair and reasonable decision today.”
