The Welsh Labour Government has absolutely no way of assessing progress of its local government collaboration agenda, Welsh Conservatives learnt today.
The Welsh Government has told local authorities to share posts to meet its collaboration agenda, but in a letter to the Shadow Minister for Local Government, the Minister confirmed that there are no plans to record details of shared posts.
Janet Finch-Saunders AM said, “It seems extraordinary for the Welsh Labour Government to have a goal, but absolutely no measures in place to assess whether it is being reached.
“People will see the Welsh Labour Government’s collaboration agenda as meaningless rhetoric as it is almost impossible to monitor whether Ministers are making progress.
“A cynic might be forgiven for thinking that Welsh Labour Ministers are avoiding being held responsible should their policy flop by making it impossible to judge success from failure.
“Yet again, we are seeing a lazy Labour Government that does everything it can to avoid transparency, responsibility and accountability.
“Instead of making vague and woolly commitments, the results of which it cannot measure, Labour Ministers should start acting like a proper grown-up government and be held to account for its actions.”
