In responding to comments made by Cllr Garffild Lloyd Lewis, Janet Finch-Saunders said:
“It’s disappointing that some councillors put party interest above the chance to make a meaningful difference to the lives of their constituents.
“The bottom line is that the Plaid leadership in Cardiff Bay couldn’t look beyond their tribal instincts.
“Gareth Jones was willing to take a stand against partisan politics, and I applaud that – and from a Welsh Conservative perspective it’s good to see my colleagues working with other parties for the greater good.
“Sadly, some Plaid councillors in Conwy County Borough Council were less open minded and committed.
“Only last week, it Conservative Councillors working with representatives from other parties, who stood up for local democracy by proposing a motion to oppose a controversial planning application in Marl.
"I certainly do wish the recently elected Cabinet in Conwy County Borough Council and the Leader Cllr. Gareth Jones all the very best, particularly so, as they continue to work hard getting to grips with balancing the budget on such finite resources.
“This of course is as a direct result of such poor financial settlement funding having been provided in recent years by the Welsh Labour Government in Cardiff Bay."
