North Wales has been named in Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2017 as 1 of 10 top Regions in the World. It is described as having undergone a reinvention with headline-stealing active attractions such as Surf Snowdonia, Zip World, and Bounce Below. Complementing all those exhilarating activities is the glorious Snowdonia National Park and the sky to which its mountains reach: a dark-sky reserve.
Speaking after hearing this news Janet Finch-Saunders commented that:
‘With Majestic Mountains; Breath-taking Beaches; Captivating Culture; Warm Welsh Welcomes; and An Abundance of Activities, being only a few of North Wales' unique biography, this news really is well deserved’.
‘I am proud that North Wales has been ranked beside destinations such as the Azores, Aysén in Chile, and Perak in Malaysia. It is incredible to think that region is recommended as one of the best areas in the world to visit’.
‘Aberconwy and especially the Conwy Valley can be justifiably imagined as the heart of the region's tourist industry. From one end of the Conwy Valley Railway Line to another – Blaenau Ffestiniog to Llandudno – there are countless activities, places, and paths for all to experience’.
‘In addition to the long established attractions such Bodnant Gardens, Conwy Castle, and The Great Orme, a new trend really has made North Wales stand out on the global map: adventure tourism. This is catered for by many businesses in my constituency such as Surf Snowdonia, Zip World Fforest, and Go Below’.
‘I would like to thank and congratulate all business and people who work in the tourist industry both in Aberconwy and North Wales. They should all be proud of this amazing achievement as it is testament to all their hard work and effort’.
