Make Supporting Local Businesses Our Collective New Year’s Resolution

As we look ahead to 2021 we must not forget the sterling work of our businesses and their staff. Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, is calling for supporting local businesses to be our collective 2021 resolution.

Janet said:

“Small local businesses are the backbone of our communities, and we should make it our mission to support their future.

“Aberconwy is blessed to have a brilliant mix of enterprises, from farms to butchers, vineyard to vegetable stalls, craft shops to cafes, restaurants to pubs, tourist accommodation and much more.

“Throughout 2020 we have been able to rely on local shops and producers for essential items, gifts, and food.

“In the face of the pandemic, small businesses have diversified to become Covid secure and enabled us to acquire the goods we need and enjoy.

“Whilst I hope that the current health crisis will improve with the continued rollout of the vaccine, lets remember what local businesses have done for us and continue to champion them.

“Personally, through my role as the Shadow Minister for Climate Change, Energy, and Rural Affairs, I will make it my mission to try and secure a true made in Wales framework for agriculture that will allow Welsh farming and food production to thrive in a post-Brexit marketplace.

“I am also determined to continue to use the levers at my disposal to boost businesses so that they do not have any unnecessary costs holding them back once the Welsh Government allows them to trade again”.
