Janet Finch-Saunders MS has raised concerns after news emerged that Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board still owes Conwy County Borough Council almost £400,000 in unpaid invoices relating to jointly funded care arrangements and shared services.

While the outstanding balance has reduced from more than £1.6 million earlier this year, questions remain to why such a significant debt was allowed to accumulate in the first place and what impact this has had on the delivery of services.

The revelation comes at a time when health and social care services across North Wales are already facing considerable pressures, making effective partnership working and financial accountability more important than ever.

Janet Finch-Saunders, Senedd Member for Bangor Conwy Môn said:

“It is concerning that Conwy County Borough Council is still owed almost £400,000 by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. While the reduction in the debt is welcome, questions remain about how such a large outstanding balance was allowed to accumulate.

At a time when both councils and health services are under significant financial pressure, it is vital that public bodies work together effectively and ensure money owed for shared services is paid promptly.

The remaining balance should now be settled as quickly as possible, and reassurance if measures are in place to prevent similar issues occurring in the future.”

Mae Janet Finch-Saunders AS wedi codi pryderon ar ôl i'r newyddion ddod i'r fei fod gan Fwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Betsi Cadwaladr ddyled o bron i £400,000 i Gyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy mewn anfonebau heb eu talu sy'n ymwneud â threfniadau gofal a ariennir ar y cyd a cydwasanaethau.

Er bod y balans sy'n weddill wedi gostwng o fwy na £1.6 miliwn yn gynharach eleni, mae cwestiynau yn parhau ynghylch pam y caniatawyd i ddyled mor sylweddol gronni yn y lle cyntaf a pha effaith y mae hyn wedi'i chael ar ddarparu gwasanaethau.

Daw'r datgeliad ar adeg pan fo gwasanaethau iechyd a gofal cymdeithasol ledled y Gogledd eisoes yn wynebu pwysau sylweddol, gan wneud gweithio mewn partneriaeth effeithiol ac atebolrwydd ariannol yn bwysicach nag erioed.

Meddai Janet Finch-Saunders, yr Aelod o'r Senedd dros Fangor Conwy Môn:

"Mae'n destun cryn bryder bod Bwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Betsi Cadwaladr mewn dyled o bron i £400,000 i Gyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy. Er bod y gostyngiad yn y ddyled yn cael ei groesawu, mae cwestiynau yn parhau ynghylch sut y caniatawyd i falans mor fawr gronni.

Ar adeg pan fo cynghorau a gwasanaethau iechyd o dan bwysau ariannol sylweddol, mae'n hanfodol bod cyrff cyhoeddus yn gweithio gyda'i gilydd yn effeithiol ac yn sicrhau bod arian sy'n ddyledus am wasanaethau a rennir yn cael ei dalu'n brydlon.

Dylai'r balans sy'n weddill nawr gael ei setlo cyn gynted â phosibl, a dylid rhoi sicrwydd a oes mesurau ar waith i atal materion tebyg rhag digwydd yn y dyfodol."
