Following the announcement that the Conwy Falls in Betws-y-Coed have been recognised as the BBC Countryfile Landmark of the Year, local Assembly Member, Janet Finch-Saunders said:
“This is fantastic news for Betws-y-Coed, Snowdonia National Park, and Aberconwy’s tourist industry.
“This award is an amazing extra boost to North Wales following Lonely Planet having named the region as one of the best in the world to visit this year.
“I would like to pay tribute to all residents and visitors who voted for the falls.
“It should not be forgotten that only recently the beauty of the Falls were under threat by a proposed hydroelectric scheme, and many will be grateful to the efforts of the Save the Conwy Campaign and the Snowdonia Society for campaigning to protect the falls for the benefit of the nation.”
