Press Release: Welsh Tourism

Thursday, 19 June, 2014

This week Janet Finch-Saunders AM/AC, the Assembly Member for Aberconwy, highlighted her concerns that the Welsh Government’s new Tourism Strategy does not specify how Wales can take advantage of the increase in international Chinese tourists.

Janet Finch-Saunders AM/AC said: “China’s middle classes are growing hugely and they are increasingly travelling overseas, with numbers up on visitors to the UK.”

“Whilst the strategy highlights the importance of Ireland, the USA/Canada and Germany as international tourism markets for Wales, there is nothing offered on how we can benefit from the boom from China.”

“The Welsh Government must ensure Wales does not miss out on this increasingly important market.”
