The Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy – Janet Finch-Saunders MS – has today (04 September) spoken of positive progress on proposals for a cycle/foot path connecting Llandudno Junction to Glan Conwy via RSPB Conwy, following her organisation of a successful socially distanced meeting of key stakeholders at RSPB Conwy.

There have been community calls for the scheme to be implemented since 2004, and Conwy County Borough Council now have a design which is in line with active travel standards. However, further cooperation is needed with RSPB and Network Rail.

Commenting on her meeting of stakeholders, Janet said:

“It was a pleasure to be able to bring key stakeholders together at RSPB Conwy. My thanks go to RSPB, Network Rail, Conwy County Borough Council, Cycling UK, and all constituents who have worked with me to make the meeting possible.

“The scheme has had a flat tyre for too long, but I have left the meeting confident that this has been repaired and that all stakeholders know what steps need to be taken to get the cycle path back on track.

“I will keep pedalling this project forward so to try and ensure that Conwy County Borough Council sees its successful delivery.

“Importantly, all stakeholders present were enthusiastic about the plan, and realise that it is a vital piece of the North Wales active travel jigsaw puzzle. Once it’s in place we can look to connect the Conwy Valley and Snowdonia National Park, which is an extremely exciting prospect for Aberconwy and the Welsh environment”.
