Mewn dadl ddoe ar Wasanaethau Cymdeithasol Cynaliadwy, galwodd Cyng. Janet Finch-Saunders AC ar Lywodraeth Cymru i ymdrechu i weithredu eu strategaeth.
Dywedodd Janet: “’Rwyf nawr wedi dadlau dwywaith ar fater hon ers cael fy ethol fel Aelod Cynulliad, a nawr yw’r amser i gymryd camau concrid i wireddi’r strategaeth.
“Y mater o brys nawr yw bod Llywodraeth Cymru ddim yn gwneud digon i hybu taliadau uniongyrchol. Serch bod Llywodraeth Cymru wedi ail-adrodd yn sawl dogfen, eu bod nhw eisiau annog pobl i ddweud eu dweud ar ddarpariaeth gwasanaethau cymdeithasol dim ond ychydig ydy’r Llywodraeth wedi gweithredu cyn belled.
“O’r 150,000 o bobl sy’n derbyn cymorth o’r Awdurdodau Lleol, dim ond 2,000 sy’n derbyn taliadau uniongyrchol. Mae hyn yn cymharu â 35% o’r bobl cymwys sy’n derbyn taliadau uniongyrchol yn Lloegr. Mae rhaid i’r Llywodraeth Llafur codi eu gem i hybu polisi y maent yn dweud sydd mor bwysig.”
In a debate yesterday on Sustainable Social Services, Cllr Janet Finch-Saunders AM called for the Welsh Labour Government to take real action to put their strategy into action.
Janet said: “I have now twice debated this document since becoming an Assembly Member and I believe it is now the time to take real action.
“The most pressing issue here is the Welsh Government simply not doing enough to promote direct payments. Despite repeated claims in various documents by the Welsh Government that they want to encourage people to have a greater say in how their social care is provided, they have done very little.
“Of 150,000 people who receive Local Authority support in Wales, only 2,000 are receiving Direct Payments. This is compared to 35% of eligible users receiving Direct Payments in England. The Welsh Labour Government must up their game to promote a policy which they claim to support so much.”
