Commenting on the publication of the Welsh Labour Government’s Final Local Government Settlement, Janet Finch-Saunders AM, Shadow Minister for Local Government, said:
“A tough financial settlement matched by Labour’s failure to freeze Council Tax is going to pass the burden of funding essential services on to hard-pressed families.
“It is shameful that Labour Ministers blocked Councils from freezing Council Tax, despite having received £39million to pay for it from the UK Government.
“With such a squeeze on funding from the Welsh Labour Government, Councils are now faced with the difficult task of delivering efficiencies to limit the burden of Council Tax rises on taxpayers.”
Yn ei sylwadau fel canlyniad cyhoeddiad Setliad Terfynol Llywodraeth Leol gan Lywodraeth Cymru, dywedodd Janet Finch-Saunders AC, Gweinidog yr Wrthblaid dros Lywodraeth Leol:
“Mi wnaiff y cyfuniad o setliad ariannol anodd a methiant y blaid Lafur i rewi treth cyngor pasio'r baich o dalu am wasanaethau hanfodol ymlaen i deuluoedd sydd yn barod o dan bwysau.
“Mae’n warthus bod Gweinidogion y Blaid Lafur heb rewi treth cyngor serch eu bod nhw wedi cael y £39 miliwn i’w dalu amdano gan lywodraeth y Deyrnas Unedig.
“Efo cymaint o wasgiad ar gyllidau cynghorau lleol, maent hwy nawr yn wynebu’r dasg anodd o orfod cyflwyno arbedion er mwyn leihau baich y dreth cyngor ar ysgwyddau trethdalwyr.”
