Janet Finch-Saunders AM has called out the Welsh Labour Government on their introduction of a Trade Union (Wales) Bill.
The Assembly Member for Aberconwy and Shadow Secretary for Local Government will be scrutinising the Bill in her capacity as a member of the Equality, Local Government and Communities Committee in the National Assembly for Wales.
Janet said:
“This Bill is simply about Welsh Labour rewarding the Trade Union barons for whom the Labour Party relies on so much for funding donations at election time.
“The costs of bringing forward legislation on a matter which, through the Wales Bill, voted for by Welsh Labour only yesterday, will be fully codified in law as being reserved at UK level.
“These proposals are hypocritical. The Cabinet Secretary will have a tough job in justifying to the people of Wales why he thinks acting to repeal a UK Parliament Act which safeguards ordinary working people from undemocratic strike action, and ensures greater transparency on how taxpayers’ money is diverted from public services to union officials, is a good idea.”
