Following concerns having been raised by local angling clubs, and two petitions being presented to the National Assembly for Wales for consideration, Janet Finch-Saunders, Assembly Member for Aberconwy, and member of the Petition’s Committee, is encouraging interested parties to make the most of the postponed introduction of fisheries stock control bylaws.
Janet said:
“The new bylaws and consultation process on them have been very controversial, and the source of many concerns being raised by constituents.
“Certainly, the decline of salmon stocks is an issue that needs addressing.
“What is important is that the Welsh Government makes the right decision. This can only be achieved by working with and listening to interested parties.
“Going forward, between now and the 2019 season, I urge those with an opinion on this matter to write to Lesley Griffith AM, Cabinet Secretary for Energy, Planning and Rural Affairs, to ensure that she is fully aware of their informed positions”.
