Cllr Janet Finch-Saunders AM called on the Welsh Government to review its approaches to regeneration. Speaking in a debate at the National Assembly for Wales, Janet said:
“Even the most cursory look at the regeneration policy of the Welsh Government will tell you that the current system is unresponsive to the needs of business, baffling to individuals and byzantine in its make-up.
“Between 2001 and 2010 the CBI estimates £5bn public money was spent on economic development. However in the same period, Wales’ key economic development indicators have all deteriorated.
“The most effective way of fuelling regeneration is by fuelling economic growth led by the Small and Medium Sized Enterprises of the private sector.
“The current system needs to be streamlined and simplified in a way that delivers value for money and tangible benefits for business on the ground.”
Galwodd Cyng. Janet Finch-Saunders AC, Gweinidog yr Wrthblaid dros Lywodraeth Leol, ar Lywodraeth Cymru i adolygu ei ymagwedd i faterion adfywio. Wrth siarad mewn dadl yng Nghynulliad Cenedlaethol Cymru, dywedodd Janet:
“Mae hyd yn oed y cipolwg mwyaf arwynebol ar bolisïau adfywio Llywodraeth Cymru yn dangos fod y system bresennol ddim yn ymateb i anghenion busnes, ddryslyd i unigolion a Bysantaidd yn ei gyfluniad.
“Rhwng 2001 a 2010 wnaeth y CBI amcangyfrif bod £5 biliwn o arian cyhoeddus wedi’i wario ar ddatblygiad economaidd. Serch hynny, yn ystod yr un cyfnod, mae 'dangosyddion datblygu economaidd allweddol Cymru wedi dirywio i gyd.
“Y modd mwyaf effeithiol o danseilio adfywio yw drwy hybu twf economaidd o dan arweinyddiaeth gan y Mentrau Bach a Chanolig eu Maint yn y sector preifat.
“Mae angen i’r system bresennol fod yn symlach mewn ffordd sy'n rhoi gwerth am arian manteision gwirioneddol ar gyfer busnes ar lawr gwlad.”
