As the summer months and tourist season approaches the Member of the Welsh Parliament, Janet Finch-Saunders, has recently visited the Llandudno Tourism Innovation Hub. This centre has been working with 22 local businesses in the Tourism and Hospitality sector to undertake innovation projects, secured over £200,000 in grants since January this year, and has helped to retain or recruit 39 staff in businesses across the town.
Commenting after her visit Janet said:
“The Tourist and Hospitality sector is a vitally important industry within Llandudno and Aberconwy. That is why it is so reassuring to see UK Government funding being deployed to support this industry develop a year round market and also retain increased numbers of staff throughout the traditionally quieter months.
“This Innovation Hub has already proven to be a remarkable success, having assisted in securing over £200,000 in grant funding since January this year already. I would like to thank Llanrillo Menai, Mostyn Estates, the UK Government and all those involved for working collaboratively to support our tourism industry here in Llandudno.
“As we see the continued easing of lockdown restrictions across Wales I know that our town’s fantastic local businesses are eager to welcome back visitors.
“I applaud the continued efforts of the Llandudno Tourist Innovation Hub. Their efforts are undoubtedly helping to place our tourism sector on a trajectory to be worth even more to the local economy.”
