Having spent years emphasising the potential of the site, the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy – Janet Finch-Saunders MS – has welcomed the news that the Conwy based Pharma Group Holdings has acquired the empty units at Parc Ty Gwyn.
GM Jones built its £1.3 million Llanrwst HQ in 2018 backed by over £400,000 from the Wales Economic Fund. After falling into administration in 2019, the two properties at Parc Ty Gwyn were left deserted for over two years.
On the announcement, Janet said:
“I am delighted to learn that Pharma Group Holdings, a local health business success story, is looking to expand throughout the constituency once again by acquiring the deserted units at Parc Ty Gwyn. This ambitious investment in Llanrwst recognises the potential of this high quality site.
“My hope is that this purchase will garner a more positive outlook for what had become a ghost campus. Whilst I continue to find it incredibly concerning that over £400,000 of taxpayers money was not adequately monitored when the Welsh Government initially invested in this site, I look forward to seeing the company breathe new life into the units.
“Having spent the last three years using all the levers at my disposal in the Welsh Parliament to see these excellent units put to good use and, most importantly, generating long-term and high-quality jobs, it is most welcoming to start the new year with the announcement of an employment boost for Llanrwst.”
