Having previously raised her concerns regarding the provision of NHS dental care in Aberconwy and following the receipt of correspondence from the Welsh Government confirming the establishment of a North Wales Dental Academy, the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, Janet Finch-Saunders MS, has met with Mr Peter Greensmith of Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) to discuss this exciting development.
Commenting on the meeting Janet said:
“I have been approached by numerous constituents who have highlighted the difficulties they are facing in receiving regular dental care. Given this I was delighted to meet with Mr Greensmith of Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) to discuss his ongoing work to establish a North Wales Dental Academy.
“Mr Greensmith has informed me that this project remains on track to open in the Autumn of this year and will provide NHS services to three patient groups; Emergency, Urgent and Regular working to alleviate mounting pressure on NHS dental services across North Wales.
“In addition to this I have been informed that this centre will provide training, supervision and mentioning to local clinical and non-clinical dental staff along with other exciting training programmes and opportunities for newly qualified and training dentists.
“I would like to take this opportunity to commend Mr Greensmith and his team for their continued work and I look forward to working with him, BCUHB and the Welsh Government to ensure that North Wales receives the dental care they require and deserve.”
