The Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy – Janet Finch-Saunders MS – has welcomed the news that Arriva Cymru drivers have accepted a pay offer in a move that removes the prospect of a strike. The news follows an improved offer from Arriva, which was accepted by ballot yesterday.
Welcoming the positive news, Janet said:
“Having met with officials from Arriva Cymru last week to review the situation, I welcome the news that Arriva Cymru drivers have accepted this improved offer at their ballot, following positive engagement from both sides to seek a just and agreeable solution.
“With many constituents relying on these crucial services across the constituency to reach places of employment and education, the firm removal of any strike prospect will help to ensure that wheels remain in motion through the blustery, wintery days.
“At a crucial point for our booster vaccine roll-out, with more people now eligible to receive an invitation to inoculation and with residents required to visit medical centres, the provision of regular and reliable public transport services are an essential pillar in our defence.
“This news ensures that this roll-out can continue, unabated.”
