On the 25th of April, the UK Prime Minister made a visit to Aberconwy in North Wales where he was warmly welcomed by Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, and other elected members. Both the Member and the Prime Minister took time to walk along the busy high street meeting with constituents and local businesses to understand how they had been recovering from the pandemic. Janet used this as an opportunity to thank the PM for the COVID relief package provided to Wales and the support given during one of the worst national crises seen since the end of the second world war.
Commenting on the Prime Minister’s visit, Janet said,
“It was a delight to welcome the Prime Minister once again to Llandudno, to discuss the progress made in the constituency since the general election and the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions. Small and local businesses are the backbone of the Welsh economy. For towns such as Llandudno, we heavily rely on tourism, and it was welcoming to have the Prime Minister offer his support towards the summer boom we usually see.”
Both discussed the latest levelling up funds provided to North Wales and future economic packages that could be used to further boost Aberconwy and the region.
Commenting further on the PM’s visit, Janet goes on to say,
“This will be the first year since the beginning of the pandemic for hospitality, hotels & accommodation venues to function at full capacity. It will be very exciting to welcome visitors back to the constituency and to see a thriving town once again. I’m pleased to have shown the Prime Minister that Aberconwy is very much open for business.”
Prif Weinidog y Deyrnas Unedig yn ymweld â Llandudno
Ar 25 Ebrill, bu Prif Weinidog y DU yn Aberconwy lle cafodd groeso cynnes gan Janet Finch-Saunders, Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy ac aelodau etholedig eraill. Neilltuodd yr Aelod a’r Prif Weinidog amser i gerdded ar hyd y stryd fawr brysur yn cyfarfod etholwyr a busnesau lleol i ddeall sut roeddynt wedi bod yn adfer ar ôl y pandemig. Manteisiodd Janet ar y cyfle i ddiolch i’r Prif Weinidog am y pecyn adfer COVID a ddarparwyd i Gymru a’r cymorth a roddwyd yn ystod un o’r argyfyngau cenedlaethol gwaethaf ers diwedd yr ail ryfel byd.
Wrth roi sylwadau ar ymweliad y Prif Weinidog, dywedodd Janet:
“Roedd hi’n bleser croesawu’r Prif Weinidog i Landudno eto, i drafod y cynnydd sydd wedi’i wneud yn yr etholaeth ers yr etholiad cyffredinol a llacio’r cyfyngiadau COVID-19. Busnesau bach a lleol yw asgwrn cefn economi Cymru. I drefi fel Llandudno, rydym yn dibynnu’n fawr ar dwristiaeth, ac roedd hi’n braf iawn gweld y Prif Weinidog yn cynnig ei gefnogaeth i brysurdeb arferol yr haf.”
Trafododd y ddau'r cronfeydd ffyniant bro diweddaraf a ddarparwyd i’r Gogledd a phecynnau economaidd yn y dyfodol y gellid eu defnyddio i hybu Aberconwy a’r rhanbarth ymhellach.
Wrth roi sylwadau pellach ar y Prif Weinidog, aeth Janet ymlaen i ddweud:
“Dyma’r flwyddyn gyntaf ers dechrau’r pandemig i leoliadau lletygarwch, gwestai a llety agor eu drysau’n llawn. Bydd yn gyffrous iawn croesawu ymwelwyr yn ôl i’r etholaeth a gweld tref sy’n ffynnu unwaith eto. Roeddwn i’n falch o gael dangos i’r Prif Weinidog bod Aberconwy ar agor ar gyfer busnes unwaith eto.”
