Janet Finch-Saunders is today welcoming world cycle day is calling for an ambitious active travel route across Wales. These last few years have seen a lot of change, many people took up cycling or rediscovered it, dusting off that old bike sitting in the shed to get out there again. Some for exercise, some for commuting to work, to go to the shops or even just to be able to see friends and family. The bike can give everyone freedom, freedom to choose how to travel and how to live their lives better and healthier.
Commenting on the occasion, Janet said.
“In Aberconwy we have the potential to have an active travel route the whole length of the Conwy Valley, and provide a safe and truly green connection between Llandudno and Betws y Coed.
“At present we have a cycle path which goes from Llanrwst half way to Betws y Coed, and I am seeing the delivery of a route from Dolgarrog to Maenan, and hopefully from Llandudno Junction to Glan Conwy. However, we need the Welsh Government to commit to a vision which sees those three small patches linked, and therefore their value for money and green community credentials enhanced.”
Commenting further, Janet said.
“During Bike Week, people have the opportunity to explore North Wales in a environmentally friendly and active way. I hope to see more people making the most of this opportunity and discover the opportunities that lay ahead.”
