The Leader of the Welsh Conservatives, Andrew RT Davies AM, joined Janet Finch-Saunders AM in visiting Risc IT Solutions in Llandudno last week.
Risc IT Solutions (formerly Clunk Click Ltd) was set up 15 years ago by local technology entrepreneur Paul Roberts. It pioneered the online data backup model to SMEs in the UK and was the first true Cloud business in Wales. Risc IT Solutions has grown into a successful award-winning IT business, it employs 12 people and has a network of 250 IT channel partners selling its IT solutions to every corner of the UK. It’s located in the inspiring setting of a converted church in Llandudno which has become a technology cluster housing three businesses who employ 40 staff between them.
Janet Finch-Saunders AM for Aberconwy said: “Over the years, Risc IT Solutions has seen rising turnovers and expansions, and is now an important employer here in Llandudno.
“It was wonderful to be able to showcase one of our local success stories to Andrew RT Davies. Paul Roberts [Founder] should be exceptionally proud of all that the company has achieved over the years, and this is in no small part thanks to the hard work and determination of him and his staff.
“As Welsh Conservatives, we firmly believe that business in Wales is not solely confined to the urban centres of the South. As Risc IT, and many other small- and medium-sized enterprises across Aberconwy, are demonstrating, North Wales is a great place to do business.
“I will continue to call for improved broadband access to ensure that entrepreneurs can continue to grow their businesses here in Aberconwy.”
Andrew RT Davies AM, Leader of the Welsh Conservatives, said: “Risc IT Solutions is a perfect example of the innovative, forward-thinking company the Welsh Government should be encouraging and supporting across the country.
“Unfortunately, the current Labour administration in Cardiff Bay has little to no interest north of the M4 corridor and this simply has to change – and the only way this can be done is by delivering a Welsh Conservative Government.
“The tech-hub church is an extremely impressive working environment, one which clearly breeds creativity, productivity and prosperity for people working in Llandudno. We have some of the finest brains in North Wales but we need a government to support and assist this talent where required.
“Janet has a superb track-record as the Assembly Member for Aberconwy in supporting communities and businesses and she is the perfect demonstration of what a Welsh Conservative Government could do for people for people across North Wales.”
Paul Roberts, Director and Owner, Risc IT Solutions, said: “We were delighted to welcome Andrew RT Davies and Janet Finch-Saunders into the tech-hub of our converted church. We are proud to be a technology pioneer in the UK and a North Wales business that is part of a thriving and growing business community. There’s a wealth of local talent in and around North Wales and it is important for business leaders to come together, get involved with local assembly members, councils, forums and associations to share our experiences in order to create a progressive business growth environment for North Wales. By showing our value to the economy we can help support local business and employment growth now and in the future.”
