Cllr Janet Finch-Saunders AM today called upon the Minister for Environment and Sustainability to properly take into account the views of the forestry sector during the Single Environmental Body consultation process. Janet said:
“At present there is considerable opposition from key forestry and timber sector stakeholders to the proposed merger of the Forestry Commission Wales into a new environmental body.
“During the development of the business case for such a body the Welsh Government all but ignored the representations made by the forestry industry.
“And as such I today called upon the Minister to provide assurances that his Government will now genuinely listen to their concerns during the official consultation process.”
