Fresh calls to save maternity services at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd
Correspondence from North Wales’ health watchdog for intervention at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd have now been sent to Labour’s First Minister, following an appeal from the Assembly Member for Aberconwy, Janet Finch-Saunders.
During Tuesday’s First Minister’s Questions, Carwyn Jones AM rebutted claims that North Wales Community Health Council had formally requested Welsh Government intervention in the withdrawal of consultant-led maternity services at the hospital.
The Assembly Member immediately wrote to the Chief Officer of the CHC to express her concerns and establish the technicalities of the correspondence. The AM urged Mr Geoff Ryall-Harvey to make a formal request if he had not already done so.
Janet Finch-Saunders said:
“As a result, Carwyn Jones AM and the Health Minister both have copies of the direct call that they cannot ignore and they are ultimately responsible.”
“Furthermore, I would ask those who feel as passionately as the thousands across North Wales, to include myself and our mothers and babies, to make their views known directly to the First Minister of Wales. You can do this simply by email Carwyn.jones@wales.gsi.gov.uk or in writing to:
F.A.O. First Minister,
Carwyn Jones AM,
Welsh Government,
5th Floor,
Tŷ Hywel,
Cardiff Bay,
